A CCP is another protein which is released in states of chronic inflammation. It's more specific for rheumatoid arthritis and we don't understand exactly what the function of the CCP is, but it is a diagnostic tool to help us to make the diagnosis.
Dr. Michele Meltzer, MD, joined the staff of Thomas Jefferson University in 2007. She is currently working with ILAR (International League of Associations for Rheumatology) East Africa to improve opportunities to learn about rheumatic disease in Africa as well as India. She has been active in rheumatology professional societies including the Philadelphia Rheumatism Society and the American College of Rheumatology.
